I read the following extract in a medical journal and am sharing this with you. This knowledge is the foundation of my development of our wound cream, as I wanted the clever alchemy of the Bee and Manuka pollen to become a staple in every home without the fear of building up resistance to antibiotics.
“Treatment of chronic wounds is becoming increasingly difficult due to antibiotic resistance. Complex natural products with antimicrobial activity, such as honey, are now in the spotlight as alternative treatments to antibiotics. Several studies have shown honey to have broad-spectrum antibacterial activity at concentrations present in honey dressings, and resistance to honey has not been attainable in the laboratory.”
Additionally, we have been inundated with information about microplastics in all aspects of our lives. One of our customers sent us a delightful video of cherishing our lip balm and thanked us for not contributing to the microplastic epidemic with our paper lip balm tubes. An unexpected aside, thank you, Melodie!
Stay CURIOUS, don’t get into a RUT!
Why do I say this? Last week, a friend from over 40 years ago came to a town near my home, and I decided to take the 2-hour drive to go, say hello, and have lunch!
The characters across the table were the same outwardly, but the spark had left their eyes, and the conversation could have happened 40 years ago. It set me thinking, what made my Dad in his 90s the object of wonder? Curiosity, checking local events, going to markets and events that were going on, even while bemoaning that he could no longer influence events, as in his age, he was invisible. However, it did not stop him from writing to authors and influential people with his ideas. Did he get a response a couple of times, but that was not the purpose; it was to stay current and engaged. Unlike the rut of my contemporaries mentioned earlier, each morning he saw as a new dawn, and conversations with him were never dull – indeed, often inspiring.
Hereclitus was our first European to pen that everything is relative and subject to change! We live in times when it is front and center, that every day change is upon someone, and we are basically merely participants. Much like the victims knowing that change is ever constant and each generation does what it can, with reference to their times.
My job is not to get into discussions and indeed arguments about a thing I know little about, but keep the measure of what is positive change and what we can let pass by. General condemnation, generalizations are the poison in discourse. Working on assumptions regurgitated from the news stoke unhealthy emotions.
So, this week has been very reflective. We watch as our fellow citizens, and indeed, we are thrown into uncertainty. So, I wish for you the good fortune to focus on what you can control, be civil and considerate, think, don’t react, and come out healthy.
Sorry for doing a little more than musing. Thank you for reading and also your support of our products.
